Fleeing into vacation!

This is a notice of absence, because I am embarking in a couple of hours upon a week-long road trip! (Technically I'm already embarked, in that I drove to NYC yesterday, but it doesn't really count when I'm in a friend's living room with wifi.)

Cahokia is worth the trip.

I've never seen it, just read about it, but I'm really excited! (And kind of depressed without surprise that almost no one I've mentioned the trip to IRL has ever heard of the place.) I plan to take a multitude of pictures.

Our theoretical destination is the Illinois-Missouri border, to visit Cahokia Mounds and the City Museum in Saint Louis.
