Two-for-one Poem Day!

I wrote two poems today. I will put them here, alright?

Robert W. Fitts

I am the American ambassador
To Papua New Guinea.
I save lives!
There is nothing more dangerous than the monsters that roam these hills,
Terrifying creatures,
Orifices bristling with teeth and tentacles.

I carry sixteen knives with me,
And two guns,
And one gun that shoots knives,
And a compass.

But at night I take off my flak jacket
And dance until my heart stops
Because I am the American ambassador
To Papua New Guinea,
And I mean business.

Sacred Rites

Tremble, newlings!
You are in the presence of your elders.
Your path is strewn with our
Broken sticks, strings, bones,
Blood freely shed in sacrifice to youth.

We haunted the same garage,
Sweated and howled,
Decimated mountains stone by stone,
And found buried in the depths,
Perfect and seductive, the power chord.

Now we vibrate the same space,
You and I and the molten leather god of rock.
His voice roaring, dangerous and treble,
He sings to his children,
And we, fists raised, are His song.
