Recipe for the hungry and poor: Lentil soup

To be a student is to starve. Well, hopefully not with this great recipe for lentil soup. It's very tasty, easy to make and incredibly cheap. Maybe not as cheap as instant noodles but it's cheap enough and far better food for you.

I have a little tip too, if you want to cut the cooking time with about an hour/40 minutes, put the lentils in cold water with a teaspoon salt 12 hours ahead.

Doesn't that add to the cooking time about ... 11 hours? ^_^

No, because you don't have to boil them. I usually throw the lentils in a bowl with water, add some salt and put it in the fridge in the evening because I'm so scatterbrained and stressed in the morning.
Then our soup only takes about 45 minutes to finish.

And if you cook beans (dry, of course, not from a can) of any kind it can differ between one hour of cooking up to 2-3 hours ^^
