John Stewart is continuing proof that a liberal can't stand up without a straw man to lean on.
Oh, and I really like the "new mandate that criticizing the Commander in Chief is off limits during war time." There are more than enough things to criticize Bush for. However, Stewart seems more interested in cheap laughs than real issues. Which is fine, he's a comedian. However, too many people seem to get their ideas and beliefs from him.
He is just making fun of bush because bush has publicly stated he has never changed his direction on things and here he is 180 degrees from what he ran on.
It is part of a whole series of skits like that which make fun of the way politicians change there views (both democrat and republican).
"Lighten up" tends to mean "don't poke holes in my arguments." Maybe that's not what you mean here, but when you go through the cycles enough, you start to see the pattern. People like Stewart love to say that it's only comedy. However it's intended to spread ideas without being subject to scrutiny.
