My hunch is to move it into something associated with precious metals.

Was it worth it? Oh yes, It won't feel like it immeadiately, but it will pay off to have it.

**winces** I'm sorry hun. I had somehow gotten the impression that you liked your work and that you were pretty happy. I'm sorry sweetheart. :(

If you are not happy at your job, then I'd suggest looking into doing something that you would enjoy. I wouldn't quit right off the bat, having a job at all is a pretty big thing where I am. ((state unemployment rate here in MI is 15.3% officially but I'd bet it's closer to 22% easily))

Is there any way for you to make a living that you'd be happy with doing something else?? You're an amazing person and I'd hate to think of you going through life miserable. If you ever need an available ear that's far away from your normal life, I'm here to listen. **hugs**

I may have mentioned it to be "interesting", and Naval Submarines certainly are, and getting nearly 6 figures for my first engineering position (for which I recently obtained tenure) is decent. However I hate this job for a wide variety of reasons (ranging from Maine residents, weather, and taxes to lonliness, stress, and personal issues growing up military) and always planned to leave after a few years of experience. I hate that this job represents my continued financial success and my perpetual social inadequacies. The current job market leaves me conflicted. If I knew what I wanted to do and was willing to take a $50k pay cut, I'd be doing it. I think I'm fucked, at least for now.
