I don't think it's entirely a novelty - it is reacting to some chemical in pregnant-person urine, that is probably related to which sex chromosomes the fetus has.

If you had a plastic wrapper it probably would be a lot of fun to buy this and replace everything inside with a big note that says "fuck-you" wrap it back up and return it to the store.
