Bloglines and holidays

Apr 25, 2007 14:46

Today is a holiday and I am dedicating myself to trying to catch up on bloglines - and it is making me realize how very bad I have been at catching up with people lately, sorry sorry sorry! I am ok, feeling good (apart possibly from glances at the covers of sports newspapers when unavoidable. Or my inability to find a spring coat), I think ( Read more... )

Did I already got you to read the Bartimaeus trilogy? It's not at all the same, but it's also good (and plotty/fun/witty/well characterized) YA novels...

Oh, thanks for the rec - I read the first one, it was nice, I meant to read the sequels eventually, but never quite to it. Will note it down!

*hugs*

Ha! I was totally blank-minded about a book to do what only a MWT can be sure to do, but last night as I was going to bed, had a Thought! (No, really - there was thinking :) ) But must do this carefully. If you'd be interested to read a book that Eva Ibbotson thought was bloody good (I think that's the quote - she both encouraged the author to try to get it published and has a wonderful quote about it on the cover), I could send you A Drowned Maiden's Hair. BUT you'd have to be sure not to think of it as a book I'm recommending as like an Eva Ibbotson (though I do see some kind of similarities, especially in the ending), or as a book you'll definitely like (which would ensure your hating it and not feeling like finishing at all), but merely for the interest of reading a book E.I. liked a lot. (I LJed it, but will send you the link later if you want ( ... )

Thanks so much for the offer - I am solving this by putting up the King of Attolia for a reread ( hey it works....). You are making me curious about that book, but may I take a rain check? I picked up something from my TBR pile, Mystic and Ride by Sharon Shinn. Serious flaws there, but the characters are sort of cozy and it works mostly. Plus am saving the KoA for a reread during the weekend :)

I just did reread just the KoA, and am feeling all addict right now, am feeling the need to reread the whole series right from the Thief... *sigh`* There is something to be said for a relatively small series that you can do that to. Plus a character to whom the gods speak "go to bed" and "stop whining" ;) And I absolutely get the vibes about Sounis ( the country) and missing Sophos, hope I am right and it´s not too long. And Mede, ah...
