I immediately thought of your family and friends. I'm glad to hear that everyone seems to be OK. What a horrific, terrible thing.

Thanks for calling and posting :) We'll just have to watch and see. What a mess.

We still haven't heard from my uncle yet, but he lives and works south of there and it's more likely that he's just not picking up his phone, as usual.

Best hopes to you.

Got a call from him this morning, he's fine! I'm so relieved. I hope you're having the same luck.

Good! I'm glad to hear it! Yeah I've been getting email and notes trickling in from everyone I left them for. So the worry is subsiding.

Chris here,

no one that we know was involved. Thank god that the bridge was down to only two lanes in each direction due to construction. On the other hand, that may turn out to be a contributing factor.

I drove across that bridge three times yesterday. I guess my luck had something in reserve. I don't think God wanted me to default on my student loans.

prayers all around

Yes I'm sure god and bank were in cahoots over this one :) 3 times? You didn't tell me you were back and forth over it all day!

Amber and Chad had only decided to take a different route because of the construction--they were on their way to a birthday thing and ended up only a mile away from it.

Gotten some more replies on myspace and email from folks, so that's good to know. I haven't turned on the news tonight to see what they're saying about it.

I settled into reading parts of Ship of Destiny because its the ultimate comfort book for me.

yeah, I normally don't go that way, but had errands to do in North Mpls. Last time across was southbound at about 2:00 pm. Seemed fine to me :) anyhoo, today's news is that there may be fewer dead than previously thought. Its amazing that the bridge didn't collapse with full traffic on it this spring. That would have been four lanes in each direction, twice as many people.

Ships of Destiny, is that some sappy chick book?

Speaking of sappy chicks, tell Renee hello.

burn!
later, Chris
ps, just kidding Renee
