Heh. I think it's just because he's kind of a contradiction, physically - tall and obviously strong and fit, but with that innocent-looking baby face. He pulls off that "badass yet vulnerable" thing so well, which I think is very appealing in a certain type of military/uniformed character in particular.

I agree! I was just thinking about it, after I read that quote again where he blames the buzz cut. I think people, obviously including casting people, are attracted to the contradiction between what a super nice guy he obviously is, with that open, thoughtful and empathetic face, and the rough- and toughness usually associated with the military/uniformed world.
I guess people are unconsciously intrigued - what's a guy like that doing in the armed forces?

hahaha god yes! Military outfits can be so unflattering at times - like in the second link the same costume isn't doing anything for him or his waist. But when it's right, it's right.

'Tis very awesome indeed. Though I fear it's not a big part, and you'll have to wade through lots of Justin Timberlake to get at him. But it'll be worth it! He's singing and all... ;D
