Ignorant White Folk

When will people grow up?  On Nov. 5th, two of my managers at work said we should give out free chicken wings because Obama won.  (They were McCain supporters.)  They also said that black people will "revolt" and "go crazy" if Obama were elected.  Seems to me that the only crazy people out there are the ignorant white folk.  Examples:

Not at all saying their actions were not ignorant but I now teach in the Urban education (ie: mostly black) system here in Cincinnati. On Wednesday, I asked the students to remove their hats (a school rule) and was told that they no longer have to listen to what white people have to say 'cause a black man is president!...Kids that are about 12-17 and this has been running pretty rampent right now. There have been countless other attacks on McCain supporters homes, yards, and cards as well as more physical/aggresive racial tensions growing. There is ignorance and immaturity on both sides. To assume had McCain won there would not be equally racially charged aggressions is naive. The US in general is a bunch of brats who kick and scream when things don't go their way as well as boast and flaunt when they do.

I'm actually still in school to be a secondary English teacher. (I changed my major after three years of accounting. blech.) You're blessed that you have the ability to mould their views into a more worldly one. I think low socio-economic minority kids have a lot of pride in having a bi-racial president. They're just misguided and use hate instead of pride. (You should remind them that Obama is 50% white. Smack them down intellectually

I can't wait to go home for Christmas and hear my grandfather rant about negroes. It's a fun aspect of every Christmas but this one should be special.
