The Library of Babel

I've just been mad a lot lately. And not for no good reason, either. I was part of this gifted education program when I was younger, and I retain a few friends from there. The other day I was talking with my parents about what I want to do with my life, and one of my friends happened to come up. He's the kind of guy who's bloody brilliant but has a ( Read more... )

(What's the difference between college and university?) I hate it when people do that. Nii-chan has an awful learning disability, and I grew up hearing people think that he just wasn't trying, and yet he's one of the most intelligent people I know. There's another kid in my English class, who has ADHD so bad that he zones out every couple of minutes, but he's one of my favorite people to do group work with (when we have to do group work, at least) because when you can get him to stay on task, his work is excellent. It's not their fault.

Necrosaro? I find it's better just to ignore people. As long as their not in our way, why let them distract us? They'll just end up hurting themselves, and then we can laugh at them.

Ah, book shopping! That, ice cream, and chocolate are the three things that can cheer me up no matter what! Sounds like you made some good purchases.

In Canada, a college teaches more applied subjects, whereas universities are more associated with higher learning. In other words, universities are more competitive and more prestigious than colleges.

Necrosaro is the villain in Dragon Warrior IV. He was in love with a girl named Ruby who had the unfortunate affliction of her tears turning into rubies, so people abused her a lot to make her cry. As a result, he decided that the entire human race was worthless and despicable, and resolved to eradicate them.

I did! I am very much enjoying Republic!

That video game... it's for the original Nintendo, but it's still one of my favourites ever. And Necrosaro... heh, still one of the best villains. He's so frank. If I were a villain, I'd be him. Near the end, he makes the statment, "I've just awakened as the new ruler of evil. I'm going to destroy the entire human race. I hope you don't have a problem with that. You do? Oh well..."

Government, sort of. Different sorts, and the idea of the ideal government. He talks a lot about the shortcomings of tyrannies, democracies and oligarchies, but it's mostly done through allegory and parables.
