don't be mad at the yankees for smacking the red sox again. we're just doing you a favor... not getting your hopes up for another one of these HBO special seasons that just annoys the hell out of anyone who doesn't like the red sox (see: 95% of america).

i agree that the girl was a much better singer than america, but american idol is a game, and taylor knew how to win the game. with the exception of one season i think, the winners go girl boy girl boy. people remember what happened the last season, but not two seasons ago. they remember a girl winning last, so they want something different.

also, taylor was original. he was different. being 29 and old-looking, he was an underdog. america loves an underdog.

case in point.

yeah, they needed a white male to win. they'd had a white girl, a black guy, a black girl and a white girl. all youngish. so, they just had a young white girl, they couldn't have another one. thus, older white man.
