Who: Jennifer Walters and Captain Hammer What: The Captain brings a few innocents to safety at Avengers Tower and comes to hang out. When: January 6, early evening Notes: Beware the awesome. ( You only wish you were as cool as the captain. )
"That's right, this way," the hero of Los Angeles said as he stood at the automatic door, ushering in a new group of anklebiters. Orphans were probably a prime target, like bacon for a hungry stray dog, so they were definitely getting shuttled into this place of safety.
"Captain Hammer, you're awesome!" one of the children crooned, catching his gloved hand with an affectionate squeeze.
"No, you're the awesome one," he countered with a chuckle...and then wiped his glove on the side of the wall. He was pretty sure that kid had been picking its nose earlier.
Jennifer stepped out of the elevator when they walked in through the front doors and the lobby. She gave him a smile, before looking at the group of children he had brought with him, noting that they had no parents with them and that the adults upstairs were going to find themselves frazzled.
"Hello Captain," she said, reaching out and stopping one of the children from pressing all the elevator buttons.
"Won't you come upstairs with us? I'll drop the kids off on the floor where they're staying with the adults there, and then we can have a cup of coffee or tea before you go back out again. It's so cold out recently."
The Captain's mood seemed to improve as the pretty lawyer appeared. He stood as he always did, shoulders back, the muscles in his form taut so they could be better viewed and admired by his fans.
"Well I won't say no to a good cup of coffee," he grinned. The weather never got this cold in Los Angeles, that much was certain. Not unless Johnny Snow was up to his usual hijinks, anyway. "Thanks, that's very hospitable of you."
And as impressive as his musculature was, Jennifer did her best not to giggle. She had no right to compare him to the heroes she knew when he was not from her world, and truthfully it reminded her of Tony Stark more than a little. Instead, he just got a smile and she pressed the elevator button, the doors opening.
Ushering the children inside, she waited for him to join them before speaking.
"Ninety second floor, Jarvis."
Yes Miss Jennifer.
The elevator began to rise, quickly going through the floors as she glanced over at Captain Hammer.
"Thank you for bringing them here. The more children we can protect, the better."
When the elevator came to a stop, the doors opened and the children wandered out, Jennifer giving the adults an apologetic thank you as well before stepping back into the elevator.
"Jarvis should have that coffee just about brewed."
