WHO: Dean Winchester, Orihime Inoue
WHAT: Two uncomfortable cellmates, one uncomfortable silence.
WHEN: Shortly after Dean's capture
WHERE: Fayren - Queen's Dungeon
Imprisonment was frustrating. Orihime had tried everything she could think of to escape, even by melting the bars with her own body heat. She'd nearly given herself frostbite, her palms numb and red from the attempt, and not a drop of the icy bars had been melted away.
It wasn't the same as it had been in Hueco Mundo, save for the color scheme (or lack thereof). Here, she had no obligation to stay. Back there, escaping her room would have been futile; there was no way for a human to return to the living world unless one came upon a friendly Hollow, and that was extremely unlikely. There was no deadly device she had to destroy, either. Here, she had every reason to desire freedom, easily measured by each child held within the room. Orihime hated seeing them so miserable and resigned to their captivity. She tried to keep their spirits up with an occasional joke or story, but there was only so much one could do, and only so much a child could absorb before harsh reality stole it away again.
Orihime had been sleeping within the voluminous cloak, rolled up like a white furry burrito, when the sounds of commotion scythed through her dreams. One moment she was working disguised as a grocery store clerk to make sure the demon-possessed supervillain couldn't get the orange bell peppers he/she needed to deliver a supreme moral blow to her ghost-hunting friends, the next moment the shouting filtered through to change one of the friends into Dean. Her mind shook off the sleep-induced illusions as the noise broke through even the thick muffling fur.
She shifted, pushing her fingers out of the cloak to pull down the edge so she could blink blearily at the newcomer.
Who just so happened to be Dean.
"Dean-san!" she exclaimed. Then she remembered that he didn't really like her very much. Or at all. She shrank back, putting her hand over her mouth. Oh. Well. Maybe he hadn't heard her yet. This was going to be a very uncomfortable imprisonment indeed.
