It is with such sweet sorrow i say goodbye to the holidays and hello to a new year at uni! (apologies for the lame nature of that line, i couldnt decide on how to start it haha)

I agree with you about Ten Things, I particularly love that part of the film where Kat devotes herself through several phrases of hatred toward Patrick (Heath Ledger) alike Shakespeare, debunking gender roles and typical depictions of love by stating what she hates about him in a sort of loving way. It is a great adaptation of Shakespeare's work and has assisted Shakespeare in reaching yet another generation, one that is very visual and as some say, disconnected with such great literature. hey!
Just like you i am just a sad to leave the holidays behind! I am however really excited to get on to this topic. Maybe it is because i had my first look at shakespeare in Highschool (ended up loving it). I did texts like "Midsummer Nights Dream", "Othello", "Romeo and Juliet" and many more of his works. I actually hate to study "Taming of the Shrew" and "10 Things i Hate about you" as a comparative text to see the original and the contemporary form. It was really interesting! I really hope that this semester will be an educating and interesting year! haha i love the poem she reads in "10 things i Hate about you" and i can see ahow it reminds you of Shakespeare's Sonnet 130.

Hope to read more of your posts in the future!
Christine.
