It's the same old same old. Nature and nature. I have no doubt my IQ was inherited. this is pretty common. The thing is that the intelligence must be nutured. My dad was a scientist, my mom an artist and I was surrounded by there friends and I had gifted friends all through school. Even my drop out friends were very gifted. So the thing is you could very well have inherited your intelligence from your birth parents who because of their own circunstances never had the chance to develop.

that's a good question. i've often wondered that matter myself. my brother and myself are both "gifted", but our parents are not. i'm not saying that they're not intelligent. they're both intelligent, my father especially, but only in things he has learned, such as history or how things work. but he grew up on a farm, and is now in retail. my mother is a nurse. neither of them seem to have the intelligence of my brother or i, however.

Interesting question. I'm not sure just how smart my parents actually are. Neither one graduated from college, and only one actually attended (and only for a couple of years to "get away from home"). Both did average in school; of the few old report cards they still have, mom got mostly Bs and Cs, and dad scored mostly Cs and Ds. I suspect they were both not terribly interested in gaining "book smarts," but both of them seem at least above-average.
Both my brother and I have so-called "genius IQs," were placed in the gifted and advanced programs in school, yadda yadda yadda. Brother is now a doctor, married with child. I'm a childfree graphic artist, comedian and actor. Pretty much the only thing we have in common is a high IQ. Otherwise, we're chalk and cheese. So as far as nature v. nurture, I can make arguments both ways. Perplexing!
