How to bypass Vietnamese block of Facebook / FriendFeed / etc

Dec 30, 2010 00:32

Today I've noticed, that government of Vietnam is blocking access to Facebook. Last month easy fix with Google Public DNS was working good, but right now it is not working. So I decided to find a way to bypass this censorship.
How to access Facebook, easy method
Just type www.lisp4.facebook.com address instead of www.facebook.com. If you need www.facebook.com/blabla just add ".lisp4" to your URL.
How to access all blocked site (like FriendFeed), advanced
Easy method helps with Facebook site, but don't help with FriendFeed (and many others sites, I guess). Working solution (as for 30.12.2010) is to use open proxy for these websites. You need to:

Google Chrome users

1. Find working proxy. Just google for "proxy + country" or use this website.
2. Install Proxy Switchy! extension for Google Chrome. With this extension your browser will be using proxy only on selected websites (not slowing overall performance of your internet connection).
3.1. Go to Proxy Switchy options
3.2. Enter your working proxy settings. Try many proxies from step 1 until all sites start to open.
3.3. Let it work only on selected websites
4. Enjoy!

Other browsers

1. Find working proxy. Just google for "proxy + country" or use this website.
2. Open your browser settings and find "Proxy" there. Fill it with IP address / port of proxy from step 1 (looks like 100.100.100.100 and 3128). Try many proxies from step 1, until all sites start to open.
3. Enjoy!
