{Day 50, Evening}
Anissina cleared the last of the mess from her lab. Whoever had been in here had certainly done a number on the place. Vials spilled, potions all over the floor and a flask of her super-sekrit-identity-changing-potion-kun missing. Part of her wondered who had taken it, while the other part of her couldn't help but wonder how

"Gwen~dal!"
Too late to run now. As bravely as he could manage, he turned towards his oldest friend. With a stoic expression, fighting hard to hide the mounting fear growing within upon seeing an all-too familiar gleam in her electric blue eyes he dismissed his men.
"Anissina, I have not seen you for some time. Busy readjusting to Blood Pledge?"

"Sorry Gwendal. I've been tidying up my lab." She turned a knowing look on the poor trapped man. "It seems that someone ignored the big sign that I put on the door and wandered in and disrupted the place. Potions everywhere. It's a wonder that some didn't interact with each other and blow up the castle... more."

It was actually....Nice.
"Sorry Gwendal. I've been tidying up my lab."
Here it comes. The pain and punishment for Jose having invaded her personal space. "Well there was an exorcism there. Jose, a human from Earth, was here for a while. As soon as I discovered his presence in your laboratory I put a stop to it."
Should he tell her that the human probably fixed some of her experiments so that less bodily harm might result?
Nah.
Time to change the subject....fast!
"How was Khrennikov? Your family is well?"
He made an attempt to dislodge himself from Anissina's freakishly strong embrace.

"Well..." She himmed and hawed for a minute. "Good! I guess that I can't hold that against you!"
She curled her head onto Gwendal's shoulder. It wasn't often that he wasn't running away from her, so she was going to take every advantage of the situation!
"Khrennikov is ... better. There's still some rebuilding going on but a lot of it is done. And my brother is well. He said to pass on his thanks for coming to Khrennikov's aid, and his people's of course. And their baby is getting soooooooo big. Although, she does remind me a little of you." She pulled back and looked up at him, nodding. "Especially around the eyes! You weren't in Khrennikov about a year and a half ago were you?" Anissina teased.

She was a very scary woman. Best to head in the direction AWAY from her laboratory.
"What has been happening here while I've been gone?"
Her arm is hooked snuggly within his own. 'I sometimes forget how small she actually is in comparison to me. Her personality is so loud that it's easy to forget.'
"Well I wrote to you about some of the things. Shori left me for one. Then Gisela was possessed by that ghost. Her human, Jose, grew ill and she and I went out on a journey to find a particular herb. Had a few skirmishes on the journey, only caused one or two earthquakes."
He paused, should he mention what happened between him and Gunter? No. Best leave that one alone.
"Your pigeon seemed to function well," he commented.

"And I'm very sorry about you and Shori. I thought this time..." She looked sad for a moment.
Then she perked up again before looking slightly sheepish. "I kept forgetting to install brakes on them. I hope that you remembered to duck!"

"Yes, the ducking came quite natural," he answered with a soft rumble of laughter mixed into his voice.
They reached the fountain and he stopped there. "I missed you a great deal," he started quietly. "I---"...worried? Was afraid we'd never see one another again? "I'm glad you're back," he finished simply uncomfortable with the emotions he could feel boiling up inside.
He turned to her, his free hand raised up to her silky bangs pushing them aside from her face so he could have a clear view of her eyes. Looking into them he could remember happier times, simplier times.

She trailed off as Gwendals hand brushed her hair out of her eyes, instinctively letting her cheek follow his hand. She was a little shocked. On top of one of the longest conversations she'd had with the man in a while, he was voluntarily touching her. She blinked twice before turning to kiss his palm. Her cheeks flushed and she ducked her head. She probably shouldn't have done that.
"Um... Oops." Her voice was whisper soft.

Oh God no.
"Tea, yes, tea. Good idea."He looked down at her as she grew quiet once more. Were her cheeks red? Was she that embarassed to be held by him in public? Was he such an intolerable man that she would be embarassed to be seen with him in such a casual manner ( ... )

"There are seventy six bales of hay in the barns"
She sighed and took the only course of action that she could. Hooking her fingers, she managed to find his ticklish points. Sometimes being childhood friends is a good thing. She could instantly tell that dark thoughts were wandering around Gwendal's head and that was never a good thing.
"There aren't. I kinda relocated a couple to mop up a bit of a chemical spill in one of my outdoor labs. You have seventy three bales of hay in the barn!" Anissina giggles.
Anissina waited until he was short of breath and moved in for the kill. Wrapping her arms around his neck (a feat which involved a bit of jumping and some dragging down on Anissina's part), she pulled Gwendal down to her level until they were looking each other in the eye.
"Whatcha thinking?" She smiled, but concern showed in her eyes.

He barely has a moment to catch his breath when she latches onto his neck and dragging him down to her level. "Whatcha thinking?"
He can see her concern for him, though she tries to mask it with a carefree smile. He closes his eyes and rests his forehead against hers, his arms wrapping around her frame and pulling her to him in a hug.
"I'm just so tired of it all," he whispers defeated.

"Right. That's it. You're taking tomorrow off!" She put a finger over Gwendal's lips before he had a chance to complain. "Shush! You're taking tomorrow off and we're going to do something completely different. I don't know what yet, but I'll think of something. And I promise that it won't be a trip to the lab. Cause that's not different."
She wrapped her arms around Gwendal's waist, holding him close. She missed this. Too much had gotten in the way of their friendship. And now it was time to reconnect.
"I'll sort everything out. Don't worry about it at all."

He cringed at the image. "Please don't follow through with such temptation, it would mean someone would simply have to sift trhough the manure and then when I finally dealt with the paper, the smell would make it an even worse task."
He felt his lips curl up into a soft smile. It was nice that even after so many years had passed Anissina was still trying to look out for him. Briefly he wondered what Anissina would think of Earth. Perhaps during the picnic he would bring it up. He didn't want to exhaust his topics of conversation so soon.
"Have you ever though about going to Earth?" Dammit! That just slipped right out!

She looked off into the distance for a few seconds remembering the last sugar high that she'd had thanks to those sweets. She hadn't found anything in any of the countries that she had visited here that even came close to that feeling of utter liberation she'd felt as she'd almost bounced off the walls.
Blinking, she looked back at Gwendal. "Why? Are you thinking of going there?"

He trailed off words as his thoughts began to bog down his mind once again. There was so much work, he really shouldn't be contemplating picnics and trips to earth.
He reached for another pastry and frowned when he realized he had eaten them all. He looked up a bit sheepishly at Anissina before retracting his hand. He actually wasn't sure what he should do. Should he leave for his room now?
The tea and pastries were over, surely they would have plenty of time to speak tomorrow if they were to spend the day fishing and picnicing.
He cleared his throat and rose to his feet, eyes flickering towards her bed once more. "I should return to my quarters. Feel free to wake me in the morning." He grinned playfully, "However should you feel the irresistable urge to wake me up by jumping on me be sure to take care of hurting my back."

Anissina giggled lightly as she say him reach for the plate only to find that a rather large imp had eaten them all.
She was a little dismayed when he stood. She looked to the window and to the darkness that had dropped over the countryside sometime while they were talking.
"Oh..." She said as he announced his intent to leave. Part of her wanted to get him to stay just a little longer, but if he wanted to leave... And she did have a couple of things to sort out for tomorrow ( ... )
