My dad and I fixed up the bathroom today. Did the floor. I want to know--seriously--who carpets bathrooms, on purpose? Best case scenario, is that the carpeting molds due to all the water, and puts pollutants in your air. Worst case scenario? There's a party, someone misses and they don't tell you, and you step in a stranger's urine ( Read more... )

I have seen carpet in bathrooms done quite nicely. BUT this was a huge bathroom in a multi-million dollar home, and the toilet was in a seperate water closet (little room with a door, seperate from the jacuzzi and vanity) and THAT had limestone.
When I was a kid (early 80's) I remember we moved into a house that had 2 carpeted bathrooms...I remember at the time (I was 5) even then, thinking that was just wrong! My dad replaced it with tile within days of moving in..... it's for the best.

People who are afraid of slipping on wet tile carpet their bathrooms.

The one the boggled my mind, however, was when I saw a carpeted garage.

funny enough, I have seen this too...
A friend of mine bought what WAS the model home in a new neighborhood....the garage was the sales office.... they left the carpet for him. He has a pool table instead of cars :P

That's an excuse I can certainly live with. The time I saw it the garage was actually being used for a garage... it was a house I toured when I was looking and the residents were paranoid of falling so they carpeted everything, even the garage, porches, and astroturfing the walk ways outside.

Old people. They also carpet kitchens, which is just wrong.

I had to rip out not only carpeting and padding, but also linoleum under neath all that crap. (I tiled the kitchen, btw..)
