I have never practiced organized religion in my life. Although several times within the last year, I've thought to myself, "Maybe it's time I start," I never have. Even though I needed to go to the Methodist Church in Old Town as part of my volunteer work, I didn't. You're right. I think everyone has to believe in what's right for him or herself. Believing something just because someone says you should really has never made much sense to me. I'm not so good with the whole "faith" thing.

We live in the Bible Belt... all of his friends attend, go to church functions, etc... I was raised in various churches and he knows that... now he has already decided his own 'theology' based in all of his 8 year old wisdom and I encourage that... but now he is wondering if we are strange because we don't attend...

That would definitely explain it. I've only attended schools in northern states, so religion has never been a large part of my school experience.

Hear! Hear! I agree with the above about the fact you should believe what you feel is right for you; not someone else dictating what you should believe.! I hear, time again and again, about blind people being approached by people who are religious wanting to pray for them, to get their sight back (eeek!).

Great job... short, sweet, and to the point! You have my vote this week.
