Rebecca had been reading on the couch for an hour when Henry came in. She hadn't done a lot at work today but it took a lot out of her anyway. Still, his voice made her smile and she got up to greet him.
"It's been filled with work." She said, smiling as she came round the corner to meet him. "But it's better now you're here."
"Happy birthday, Rebecca. Again." He offered her the cake before putting it down on the coffee table, and pulled her close instead. "Has everyone been nice to you today? Where do you want the flowers? Are you hungry? Because I am."
"I eh - I got you something else as well. All of us. It was a bit of a - how do you call it - impromptu buy? Maybe you should sit down first. And I -" He side stepped her. "Will start on dinner while I explain it."
