Summary: When will we ever learn never to trust strangers?
Author’s notes: Thanks to
ruinfea for helping me with the genre… ^^;;
Ever since I was young, my mom has always warned me about talking to strangers.
Don’t accept anything they give you, don’t follow them, don’t talk to them, don’t look at them, don’t even breathe the same air as they do!
And being the obedient child that I was, I’ve strictly followed my mom’s every order up to the extent that I’d hold my breath whenever I would pass anyone on the streets who looked suspicious.
No wonder I never had that much friends.
All these happened a long time ago, when I was still young and stupid.
Now that I’m older and wiser, I know what I have to do. I don’t have to follow my mom’s orders anymore. Nope, I make my own rules. I follow Toshiya.
That’s why when this stranger approached me and invited me to go out with him, I didn’t decline.
It was just like any ordinary date and it wasn’t as if it was my first time to go on one. Although it was my first time to go out with a complete stranger.
“My name is Die.” He told me. Nice name, isn’t it?
It didn’t take him that much to convince me to go with him. He was good looking and seemed nice enough. He looked like someone I could trust right away.
The date wasn’t anything special at all. We simply strolled around the city and did some window shopping. We talked a lot and got to know more about each other.
I found out that Die played the guitar and with me being a bassist, I could picture the two of us being together in a band after that.
Imagine that, and my mom used to think that strangers can cause harm when in fact, this stranger could actually help me on my road to fame and fortune.
We talked some more about music and if it were possible to actually form a band together. I assumed that when he said ‘yes’ to the band forming part, we’d be seeing each other again. Little did I know that this would be my last meeting with him.
He led the way, turning this way and that, until we reached this crowded place. I didn’t know what was going on. There was probably some occasion that was being celebrated because of all the cheering.
We stood there and joined the people in their merriment when a bright object propelling fast into the night sky caught our attention. It exploded after reaching a great height and a rainbow of colors showered from the sky.
Several more fireworks followed after the first one and everyone was hypnotized by it.
So hypnotized in fact that no one even noticed when Die suddenly slipped his arm around my neck and dragged me forcefully off to an alley.
Still, no one noticed us even when I started crying for help.
Not even the loud sounds of shrieking I let out when I felt the sharp knife pierce through my skin again and again, made the crowd avert their attention to me.
What? Is it the first time you people have seen a fireworks presentation?
When someone finally noticed me, it was already the morning after. Die was gone, the knife was gone…
All that was left was my lifeless form and the strong scent of blood.
When will you ever learn Toshiya that mothers always know best?
