A replica of that San Juan Bautista ship in Ishinomaki (as found on wikipedia) seems very cool. Have you seen it? I'm looking forward to reading more about your trip.
I don't think I've ever seen as lovely fireworks, not in person. The best I saw were probably on Michel Jackson's concert in Warsaw, but I don't remember them well-- I was about 8, I think.
Do you have a translated copy of that official location map from All That Weiss? I know two people who would love to see it (and I suspect there are many more in the wk community) ^^ I could offer a lousy translation but I've been a bit overwhelmed lately and don't feel like editing the map; I don't even have it scanned.

Firework festivals in Japan are on a different level to the ones back in Britain. Perhaps that's because we (used to?) have a large variety of medium-level ones available for private use compared to ordinary Japanese people.
I've been thinking about translating it for a while and, instead of scanning it, just mapping it onto Google maps. Interested?
