If that Hellraiser film hadn’t been mentioned by Empire I really wouldn’t have believed that it was real. It looks like a student project rather than a feature film. Granted, if the focus of the franchise is the Cenobites there’s little else to do with them other than show what they do to people or explore how they became Cenobites in the first place. IIRC, the fourth film should have been about Lemarchand and how he came to create the Lament Configuration, and certainly the script I read seemed interesting enough, but didn’t feature any Cenobites which is why it wasn’t used in the end. But even if they did want to keep the focus on the Cenobites, what about the Engineer? She’s surely terrifying enough in her own right to warrant being the focus of a film.

Long time, no see! How's life been treating you?

Um, I don't really have much to say because I've never actually seen Hellraiser (I know, I know). I was intrigued by the quality of the trailer and particularly the remarks by Clive Barker. I'm intrigued by the detail behind the franchise though -- and I did look up The Engineer on Google.

I can probably sum it up by saying that it’s been so long that I can’t even remember what I was up to when I was last on LJ. Suffice to say, at the moment I probably know more about tiny automotive parts that I ever thought I’d know or want to know, and, god bless British manufacturing, for half day finishes on a Friday.

I’m not sure that I’ve actually watched Hellraiser exactly. I’ve probably seen enough of it to confuse all the films but The Hellbound Heart, that the entire franchise is based on, was a reasonably good novel. Cabal, that Nightbreed was based on, is probably the better book in my opinion, and probably the better film too, just for sticking closer to the storyline.
