First, about my last post, thank you for the words of encouragement both here and elsewhere. I am doing okay (and I mean that this time). Spoke to my doctor and we came up with a plan. Apparently I already had a much better handle on the situation than it felt like I did. That was good to hear. The situation sucks but I am on the right track

Heavily illustrated stories are difficult, I think, exactly because of what you described here. The illustration process is so exacting and time-consuming even to advance the story a little bit. And when you have a rich, complex story like Pleasantries going on, with all those characters and settings, it's just an amazingly complicated job.
I really enjoyed your stage setting and the way you deployed your sims. But the story is the main thing.
(I have never followed anybody else's sims story except Nocommente's Lark and Fury spinoffs)

The illustrating process is, frankly, exhausting. To begin with I thought it was making things easier because writing is hard as well and the images helped to paint the scene - an area in which I always felt my writing was lacking. I still think I am lacking at scene setting. That is something I can work toward improving without having to spend (sometimes) fourteen hours setting up a single image and this will be excellent practice.

I'm glad you're going to carry on with Pleasantries. With or without the pictures, I HAVE to know what happens next! This story has been so addictive. I think I've re-read it four or five times since your last update. Your characters are amazing, I love them all. I think your Lilith is the only one I've ever really enjoyed. She can be so interesting but most authors seem to portray her as the same, one dimensional emo/goth chick every time. Your Lilith really has a personality and it fits her SO well!
Hm, that got more fannish than I wanted it to. Sorry about that. <3
