Turns out that the dates weren't too tricky, after all. The only aberrations from the norm of adding -nichi after a number are dates 1 to 10, 14, 20 and 24.
Maybe if I actually paid attention to it for once, by the end of the summer I could:
Learn to read Japanese dates. Month names have some logic in them, at least, but specific dates? So far the only ones I can remember off the top of my head are 一日, 九日, and 七日 (tsuitachi, kokonoka, nanoka).
Learn to read the Cyrillic alphabet. I don't really care
