So wait, for finishing ToAU all you get is a level 50 ring that sucks outside of Assault, a banner for your Mog House and a head piece with no stats?

yeah =P same for so many drops from the NMs in the new areas that have pretty useless stats, and the First Lieutenant pieces you can buy with IS points are also terrible (a lvl75 rare ex belt with enchantment: "remove food"?...)
Although the assault ring can be useful if you do things like the 100floors Nyzul assaults, I think that's what they were thinking with those.

I am sure you remember how this game works, they don't really add new gear that trumps old one, to maintain balance or whatever they just add marginal items or shuffled stats between pieces, it's just the way this game is =P
Even the newer salvage gear isn't all that much better than the god set, just like a Shura+1 piece isn't all that much better than the normal version in terms of pure stats (aside for the all-important whitebox), just a point or two of a stat or another.

What are your reasons for staying with it now?

I have a question about the new update. based on your expertise as a MNK how bad did the pDif affect us. such as in xp/merit/hnm/gods etc runs. is it something that will makes us less of what we are, or is it something minor that we should no worry about?.

Thank you in advance.

well I didn't have a lot of time testing it but basically as I said now when you are in the capped area at or above pDIF 2.0 your damage becomes constant instead of being spread out with the wide distribution but the same average ( ... )

thank you for your help. you made my day a lot easier hehe. i was just afraid that we haven't gotten anything in so long that they decided to make us weaker. but you make a great point, and i agree with it. once again thank you very much

Hey just wanted to say thank you for all of the extensive testing you have done and breaking the information down into easy to understand segments. Me an another mnk friend of mine eagerly await every post you make and test the findings out for ourselves and make gear changes accordingly.

Since the 9/10 update have you noticed an increase in WS damage, and if so how much?

Secondly do you think the SE will be kinder to monks in the new expansion. I agree with your comment that they are not very likely to add new items that will make the old ones obsolete, but maybe a way to make monk versatile or maybe i mean more customizable much like the new grips? At any rate i sincerely hope they a few nice things for all the loyal monks who have been overlooked imo for quite a while. Thanks again for the wonderful info and look forward to testing more monk theories!

About ws damage, I haven't tested it much yet, but the increase in damage cap for 1hand in the last update is something like a ~0.1 pDIF for normal hits (from 2.4 to ~2.5) and a ~0.15 in pDIF for critical hits. So I would expect the max damage for all 1hand ws in general should be similar to that for normal hits, so possibly around a 4% increase in damage. Also as I mentioned howling fist got a big damage increase at 100TP from before (although asuran is still better) and dragon kick got a bit better at 300TP from before.

My next post will probably be on evasion and accuracy, with some videos of me soloing things like avatar primes more easily with evasion build swaps coupled with elemental resist build swaps (I just put a video on youtube of me soloing Leviathan Prime with a full HP bar through the whole fight)

Awwwl.. I miss the constant damage.
So, when will you be posting about the accuracy + evasion?
I've been playing ffxi in & out since Beta release in US.
2 completely separate Accounts deleted, i need to buy a new copy(3rd copy, sigh) of ffxi + replacement computer parts in order to play again. Ive always picked MONK main, easy to lvl up + fun. The information you provide in your Monk research helped me lots. The fastest Monk i lvled up was in 2 1/2 weeks 1->75Mnk 1-37War, Less then 2 weeks of actual playing time. This was all made possible by your info... so thank you very muchie.. and plz keep writing and playing. You are my God, and you own my life. (^-^)..b

Thanks, I guess with a nice comment like that I'll have to make my accuracy/evasion post soon now.
I think it will be ready by next week, and I'll add elemental resistance and avatar soloing in it too.

I could but actually I have a few jobs that I made an exception to my 37 cap rule and I keep them for BCNM40s too, like NIN and WHM (for teleports).
