I am unclear that there is a straightforward answer to that question, but I'll try. I would call Lovecraftian Horror a subgenre. And I wouldn't necessarily always call it Horror. Sometimes it's just straight SciFi/Fantasy. We've had Lovecraftian/Cthullu stories submitted to Crossed Genres that appropriately fit the Dystopian and Urban themes, for example. I suppose it depends on how closely one adheres to Lovecraft's canon and what tone you set. It could be a good fit for this month's Monster genre, especially if the focus is on the monsters rather than the cosmology or the apocalypse...

Question: Is Lovecraftian Horror/Cosmic Horror separate enough from just plain Horror to count as its own genre?
