Of course he would have company. Anything else would be unheard-of.

Very soon, there was a muffled knock at the door...though anyone looking down the hall would see no one at all. The knock was somewhat muffled, as Harry had a bottle of wine in one hand--the wine John had given him for Christmas, in fact--and a present in the other.

John put his hand flat on the strings and stood, padding over to the door. He slipped it open with practiced ease, stepping aside to let the invisible guest inside before shutting it quietly.

"Merry Christmas," he murmured at apparently empty air.

Once the door was closed, Harry unveiled. He was wearing his new red and black tux, and was clean-shaven. He put the wine and the gift on the kitchen counter, then turned and held out his arms.

"Merry Christmas, John," he said with a smile.

"Merry Christmas, Harry." John stepped into his arms, lifting on his toes to brush his lips against the smooth cheek, and kiss him. "...I seem to have made an oversight. I believe I'll have to take a moment and slip into something more... comfortable." He smiled at the jaded old line.
