waitaminute.. this guy knew a breakup was immanent? he told you -- out of the blue -- that instead of hurting you down the road he'd rather let go now.. and that's the whole of the reason to break up?

am i missing something? how could he predict the outcome of a relationship? how could anyone, for that matter?

from reading this it didn't sound like you guys were having problems, it sounds like he's too afraid of commitment.
