well just so you know i am new to this.......... i had the same delimma .....but i got the itouch instead becuz the phone plan was to expensive and i got a decent upgrade on my phone .....so i got the itouch cuz it does most everything the iphone does a few minor differences but for me its ok ........... i really enjoy my itouch
Someone reccomended that plan to me...sticking with my blah phone and getting an itouch. And it sounds good, except what I really need out of a phone is a good texting plan, cuz that's all I really use it for...
I have never used, handled, or even seen an itouch. Are they just touch-screen ipods, or do they go online and stuff? Thanks!
I can't give specific advice about the iphone, not having one. I can say that the Droid is awesome and that I get really good service on Verizon. If you don't like touch-screens, I would actually recommend one of the blackberry handsets (Curve, Tour...some other ones...). They're vertical models, full keyboards and a trackball instead of a touch screen. My dad swears by his. You can get them on... some networks. Not exactly sure which

Droid, eh? The nerd in me likes the sound of that... ...yes I just inadvertently quoted Han Solo, what of it? Thanks for the advice, I'll investigate further :D
i don't have one myself, but i have had some experience with iphones. my phone has a touch screen, and i have found that after an initial adjustment period, touch screens can be really fun (and satisfying to the sci-fi geek in me). as for iphones in particular, my only real objection to them is that they are large and cumbersome - for instance, it is difficult to type a number into them with one hand, which is something i like to be able to do with a phone. good luck with your decision. also: how are you? i have only the vaguest concept of your life, and it sounds like the life of a hippie. since we haven't spoken in a long time, i've gone ahead and formed the mental assumption that you're a hippiehippiehippie now.
i have an LG Venus. it's a cheap phone, 'cause i'm a cheap guy, but it slides (instead of flips) and there's a little touch screen that i've grown quite fond of. i do miss the flip phone a little, mostly because it's really hard to hold a glide-phone with your ear and shoulder - i multitask when i talk on the phone - but i like what i've got now. i've had it for a year, though, and in another year i get released from my contract; i, too, have been dreaming of the iphone, or something similar.
What would you DO with a smartphone? Those things are hella expensive and cost what? $100/mo minimum because of the data plans you HAVE to have? If all you want is a phone that plays mp3s, then you can get just about any phone and get a nice memory card to go in it for storage of songs.
Also, why the addiction to Apple? *creeped out by big brother* There are other posh smartphones besides iphone, like the aforementioned Android phones.
I don't have an iPhone but I can't imagine not having a smartphone. Having the internet always available, as well as apps etc is awesome. I will say that a friend of mine just switched from iPhone to droid because the data plan is 30+ dollars cheaper, and a better network (verizon). However the apps are not as previlant yet.
