So Thursday is a rather deceitful day all things considered. At this point most of the people with whom I have the joy of working with have disengaged their brains and are now working on ways to get out of work early on the coming Friday and naturally doing as little as possible from here on in. Me I’m just trying to get the stuff out of the way before Friday rather than letting it all stack up till Monday. There are few things less pleasing than going into a weekend in the full knowledge that there is something lurking and festering for you come Monday morning. Okay so this is probably one of my own pet neurosises, however perhaps you get the gist?
The building is suffering from a seasonal malaise known as no-one in. No functions larger than 4 and hardly any staff around for various reasons. All in all rather dull, the ongoing border skirmishes have come to an inconclusive cessation, the procurement tenders are grinding through validation and well I have bugger all to do.
So to keep what little mind I have active I’m plotting and scripting once more for the Amber thing. One of the players (for Amber) of whom I have a certain professional respect passed a comment that although it’s probably not the best game out there at least it is well organised and the ST patently works at it. Well a back-handed compliment is still a compliment I guess. But within it there is a modicum of truth. So what fun stuff to surprise people with at the next May game? Hell before that I’ve got at least 3 more, probably 4 more mini games to hack through with one of the more difficult tonight. Difficult mainly because the players have what I can only describe as an eclectic/ eccentric style and manner to them. Not bad so much as unpredictable. Others of the groups are more, well, I suppose the word I’m looking for is logical. This makes life easier and at least I can to a certain extent see where they are going with things.
So should it be Egil or Elric for inspiration? Probably neither.
Catch some of you at the local drowning on Saturday, apparently a place to which I have to bring a black feathered wild fowl to. Along with the malignant and much under-estimated Failing Angel we are there to mock and deride, or at least provide moral support. I have a moment of precognition coming over me and all I can se is the headline in the South London Gazette: “Priest in Swan Fondling and child drowning scandal - Two men held”. The story continues - One shot by concealed firearm carrying Welshmen, other pinned to pew by trowel bearing harridan. Police seek further information, child found with devils mark at base of skull.
Oh sorry, just snoozing there (grin)
Ps - Truly Bosnian Pyramids - BBC web site, go figure.
