The weekend that was.

So Her_Welshness (who if she is reading this needs to go search out the infamous Mr_Malk on LJ) evaporated down to the Land of her Fathers for a cycling weekend. Nice to see that Wales can be trusted to be the wettest part of the UK after suitable propiation. Either way, Friday evening a friend from Dundee scooted down and crashed over prior to Amber and I managed to get the last two mini games completed on Friday night and Saturday morning.

The game itself was a tad nerve inducing, it really didn’t help with several last minute cancellations on top of barely 5 people on site come 12.30. Thankfully though, the numbers stacked up to a healthy 14/ 15 for the main part of the game. So between the 3 ST’s we managed to get people rolling. I still have to check a couple of bits and pieces with the PC’s, mainly because I’m intrigued to know just how far certain bits of intelligence got passed down the food chain.

As with all good games of Amber (at least my view of what makes one) almost everyone has something and most cases several somethings, that if they were common knowledge would almost certainly make the game a lot easier for the PC’s. However most PC’s either ignore the scraps of real gold they have or fail to understand the significance or are just plain cagey as hell. All of which allows that 20/20 hindsight effect to cause consternation amongst others. Truly this isn’t a game of happy families, thankfully most of the bods are willing to screw themselves in the short term for access to a long term gain.

So now I have to start the mail arounds to find suitable dates to run some mini games. This time though no single person games (okay probably a couple), my body and brain can’t cope with that again. I have to remember that although the next weekend is a bank holiday it probably isn’t the best date in the year to run a game.

So that was Amber, and I think, well okay I’m fairly certain I’ve got 6-7 games left in the bag before it falls apart. The mid game is going pretty much to the schedule I was anticipating, some areas moving faster than expected and others slower. So roughly a year or so left to run, then well, hmmm….

Testing the water a bit here but I have ruminations of a Serenity style freeform. More rigid in some ways than Amber but well I have to argue it out with them Brown Coats out there. So anyone interested let me know. Also have to start deciding on the prizes, at the moment I think I have the current winner of “Dumbest Amber manoeuvre of the game” sewn up, I’m still looking for “Best one liner” and of course “The Biggest bastard” award.

Must stop thinking about fossilised resin and do some work now. Hope you’re all well and many of you keep an eye on your email bins ‘cos I will be posting this week. Assuming my neck and shoulder start allowing me rotation to the right (currently stuck at around 20 degrees in the horizontal plane and as I put any extension or side-bending into the mix I get acute stabbing pains), more than Lurch from the Adams.
