NHS

So I'm not a Tankie, a Trot, a Leninist, Socialist, Blairite, Brownite (surely Brownian would be so much more apt - wanders around in a random direction for a long time?), Deconstructed, Reconstructed, Pseudo- intellectual (only in the most absolute of terms, I know my limits), Communist, Maoist or quite frankly anything particularly left wing.

Yet, yet, the NHS.

Achilles had a heel and I have the NHS. The Tankies didn't beat me, the Tankies agree with me, the Stalinists finally got you didn't have to be left wing to believe. Two conversations in two weeks with two Tankies. Somehow the right wing bigot agrees and is emotive. The NHS is in fact incredible. The finest pinnacle of a nation state, of a civilisation, maybe we haven't got it right yet. Maybe there is room to make it better. Maybe there should be changes. But the concept. What can beat it?

I am ill, I am a citizen, the state will protect and look after me. As a collected mass we pay into it. The cost dispersed and provisioned to those in need in theory. I agree there is an aiming issue, there is a point about PFI's and Foundation Trusts that makes me want to return Tyburn bridge to a previous use. But the price too high? Never! Never I say!

Rant over, normal service will be resumed soon.
