Did you know...

That her_welshness is a lot smarter than I am? Well oddly enough this is indeed the case. Strange though it is that someone from that Western principality could occlude a true Englishman in sheer intellect it is however patently accurate. Just in case you misunderstood the term Englishman, let me clarify. England is the ultimate homogeneous mass. A country that has been invaded, counter invaded, had languages and laws forced upon it's inhabitants and yet manages to produce shopkeepers that can concern the finest strategic mind of an era. Truly a vast diaspora, and yet a lass from somewhere near the valleys is notably smarter.

All the odds stacked against her, for a start the enforced learning of an ill used and painfully modernistic tongue until the age of 16 (all whilst a majority of Labour MP's clapped on - and yet they should have been the ones to champion personal choice as opposed to the enforcement of state will) which has about as much relevance to the modern industrial World as Esperanto has to being the first language of the UN. Yeah, she is WAY smarter than I am. No sarcasm here, she just is. She went to one of the best universities in the country and learnt a language set unused for 2000 years, has a remarkable understanding of a culture of which we have the grainiest of information, and still is capable of looking further abroad for more information and knowledge. So she's kinda smart.

Me I'm an awfully well educated eejit. Sure I can quote the cranial nerves and give you clinical notes, perhaps whilst bored and disdainful of conversation I can interrupt in schoolboy latin from a vast array of rote forced quotes. Other than that I'm not that smart. No nice hugs here chaps and chappetes, please. I got to live with someone who argues and won't let it drop. For me that is one hell of a bonus, I may be able to quietly put her_welshness into a logical box it is rare that I can do the same from a moral point of view. At this point you just have to put your hands up and acquiesce. Actually I hammer the literal argument home and pray she misses the bigger point of morality against pragmatism/ literality. After all pedantry and it's associated companions are the finer points of stupidity in most arguments, the broad concepts and beliefs are of much more value. So yes she may well miss the minutiae but so what?

That is her_welshness is smart and dangerous to aggravate:) So I am rather pleased by the past 24 hours, amongst other thing I am (briefly) relatively closer to her age than before. Just before the moment my doddering senility catches me unawares and I am forced to trip people up with a metaphorical walking stick. We celebrated her anniversary with bonhomie and booze, and yeah she bought pizza but I bought Chateau Neuf. So at least stylistically I'm way more pretentious but only in the best of ways:)

Yet we got to arguing, nothing big and it was entertaining, a mild matter of mid medieval woman folk of no great status dashing around a wood by themselves and plonking arrows rather close to a man of the cloth - an episode of Cadfael - and still appearing, apparently unreasonably historical. I had my doubts she had her doubts and we differed. But it was her birthday and she is smarter than I am so I drank the free booze and shut up. This is why she is that good, someone who will argue and differ. So that we have not become some amalgam, we actually have differing views and thoughts unlike so may of our peers, some of whom truly own matching cagoules. Just in case you have any doubt the minute you see the pair of use in matching anything please take me to Antwerp and forge my living will, I'll leave several copies of my signature around if necessary.

So this mail is about how great she is, so what? Those who know her get to agree or fall beneath her rusty trowel. Me I'm an acolyte.

In associated news pushed some Amber this evening and that was fun and got me more terrified by the prospect of running Serenity every day, as Amber comes to a close. I have my doubts of providing the level of competence to a larger market. Amber is a somewhat rarified grouping and pretty much self-selecting. Either you buy into it or you don't. So I'm concerned about running a game that will draw in many more people from a greater range.

That said (and I just looked at the clock on my laptop) who cares I just caught up with mr_malk so that can't be all bad.

Toodles and soupy twist as some may say.
