Wintery hideaways!

Feb 10, 2008 18:14

So it's been a while since I've seen a post on here till today.  So I think I'm going to start posing some questions again now that we have over 100 visitors!

Best Vacation?

I ask because I'm yearning for something different and I'm curious to hear other people's ideas of a good vacation (imaginary or one you really had).

I did a two part trip:

1) Iceland: It is a beautiful place and I am going back there in 2009.

2) Munich for Octo-Bear-Fest (as stated by haxorcub, we were roommates!) and it was amazing. I love LOVE southern Germany. go everyone!

I would recommend Iceland :-) it is awesome.

My best trips have always been the ones that have done good in the world and have also changed me, somehow--like volunteeringing on a Native American reservation or working on an archaeology dig in Honduras.

They're kooky and fun and unforgettable, and they tend to cost significantly less then, say, going to Disney World.

Visiting London for the first time was by far my most memorable vacation - not only because it's awesome there, but because it was my first time leaving the country alone.

It helped that I met an awesome friend online that put me up in his place and showed me the local sights and historical places. Walking on cobblestone streets that have been set in place for longer than your native country's been around is a feeling that's near-indescribable.

He (and London) was so awesome that I go back every year to see him and explore someplace new. :-)

FYI: If you ever want to go explore London and the East End, just let me know. My friend is always willing to open his doors to visitors, and he'll let you stay free if I give you a thumbs-up.

I would have to say the best vacations I've had were 2:

San Diego, we stayed off Mission Beach a few summers ago for a week for softball world series..It is such a relaxing place to visit.

Hawaii: We went there last May for a week, stayed in Honolulu near the beach...OMFG, I thoroughly enjoyed myself
