I Inserted Coins...

Apr 17, 2011 14:23

This is a long post with many pictures, so it's under a cut.

This was my trip to the new Insert Coins video game lounge here in Vegas. It 'grand opened' Friday. I went Saturday at 6pm. I got myself an Arrogant Bastard Ale (big bottle)

This is the view walking up to it. I parked at the El Cortez casino behind me. Just ahead you can see the east end of the Fremont Street Experience.

Since it wasn't late, I took a picture of the DJ area before it got crowded. It seems really unnecessary.

They did have 2 pinball machines. I took one with Flash and one without since the flash washed out the pic.

Here is one of the gaming tables. I was taking the picture from the couch side. You can see the controllers for the Sega Dreamcast in the foreground and the Super Nintendo (Chalmers) to the left. When you reserve a table, they give you a console and you plug it in yourself in the cabinets below.

This is the booze menu you can order from while you're at the gaming couch When prices aren't listed, bad things happen to your wallet. Though $15 for an hour of fun makes it worth it. Lol at the 'Kettle One.' You could fit 4 on the couch.

To the right, just past the Asteroid/Joust/Street Fighter 3/Gauntlet circle is the front door. Straight ahead you see guys on a couch. The TV above the couch is showing what they're playing so you can watch other people play. The art on the walls are great.

This photo was a request for my visit. This is the Operation Wolf machine. It looked like the cabinet was stock, yet brand new. The glass in front of the gun has seen better days though. If you swapped out the glass, the thing would be mint.

Also by request, this is the Bubble Bobble machine. I didn't want to use flash since people were nearby playing. I noticed this isn't in its original Taito cabinet. It was a generic cabinet that I think I've seen a bunch of times holding a Mr. Do game. There was no title on the top panel. If the machine was turned off, you'd never know it was Bubble Bobble.

This is their art-for-sale wall. Some is gaming-related (you can see the Street Fighter Dhalsim pic on the right) and some is not. They all were between $200-450 and there was a placard off to the left which listed the media and price.

More art-for-sale wall.

Seen back in the 2nd photo, this was the MegaMan drawn on the wall in the DJ area on the way to the potty.

This was another neat painting on the wall. The guy on the right was unpacking Xbox 360 games for a reserved couch.

Muthafuckin Ryu.

Some delightful chaps were playing Pinball on (I think) Xbox. I didn't want to do a flash photo in their face. This is the TV above the couch. The top of the couch is about 6 feet tall, which is why you're not seeing heads.

Close up of a for-sale work of art. It's Stimpy and Ren dressed as Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse.

A closeup of a gaming couch's cabinet with the Atari 2600 controllers + cartridges. (they had more behind the bar if you wanted more games)

Same Table. Atari 2600 + Xbox controllers.

This is what you get at the couches if you order Bottle Service. Yes, those are Insert Coins match boxes. You bet your ass I got one. I can snag more if anyone wants (though it'd be nice if you came and visited me out here and got them!)

This was the game I played the most. 720 is a skateboarding game that came out when I was in Jr. High. You can see Raiden to the left and Tron to the right.

Overall it's a neat place. It's across town from me, so it's not like I'll be there all the time. I'd call this more my style than the Pinball Hall of Fame, but that's mostly because there's no food or drink at the PHoF. Nearly all of the machines were in good shape. The Street Fighter 2 machine had seen better days. I could tell it was an original machine, so the joystick was not moving well, and the cabinet was off-balance.
Gauntlet stole my quarter...

http://www.insertcoinslv.com has a list of all of the games they have.

Let me know if there's anything else you'd like me to try to photograph on the next visit. I've been asked about the Burgertime and Tapper.
