Memorial Day? What is this "Memorial Day" you speak of?

It is a semi-arbitrary marker point - at this moment the majority of my obligations end before Memorial Day. (I don't technically get holidays at work now and am actually hoping that I might be able to put in a couple of hours on that particular day without being asked to do other things by my co-workers.
