A poll:

Do you think that matter exists?

That is, do you believe that things exist outside of your mind when you are not perceiving them? If they do exist, are things just thoughts in the mind of something else (e.g. god)?

thinking doesn't have to be a prerequisite for existance. It might be necessary in order to prove that something exists, though... Some philosophers have thought that no actual matter exists - including rocks and everything else. That's kind of interesting. Berkeley, for example, thought that things did exist that were seperate from himself. He thought that all "matter" was just thoughts in the mind of god.
