That seems outrageous. How does it compare to what you would pay in other states?

i maintain my Michigan license as well. it costs $285 for 3 years of coverage. the Washington rates are already thru the roof because they are yearly. another annoyance is that departmental or state monies cannot be used to pay for professional licenses....so my meager academic salary takes the hit. don't even ask what i pay for professional associations.....

Ouch... then that is outrageous.

I know the professional organizations are ridiculous. I pay almost $2000 annually in membership fees. The ANA is the worst, at almost $800, and I don't feel like I get much of anything from it. Some of the ones I pay the least for, on the other hand, I get valuable journals and educational materials, as well as access to various services, funding, etc.

I'm not sure what it is here, but I'm guessing more. However, it's the association dues that kill me. As much as $1500 annually. And I belong to 3 of them: the specialist association, the general association, angling the Negro association.
