it's at the end of several sentences. "ne" is used in japanese like we use "right?" or "isn't it?" but i'm sure you knew that just in context anyway. but i was amused by it's repetition throughout your chosen gems from your reading.

It makes me really happy that you do this: post excerpts you like from the books your reading. I was just talking to a man who told me he doesn't like poetry or novels - I really like that you do this.
