zahau and I were just talking about the Dresden Dolls this past weekend (I just grabbed Amanda's solo album). Not having paid attention to rumors, I had said I thought they'd be around for a bit, as they were still gaining fame outside the Boston area. To bad to hear I was wrong.
Strange how many things happen shortly after I've just had a conversation/thought about a topic.
I don't know, it doesn't really feel different. First time I booked "The Dresden Dolls" I had actually booked Amanda Palmer for a show, and when I asked her for the details she gave the artist name as "Dresden Dolls" and I used that. Somewhere I have some pre-Dresden Dolls recordings of her and they sound like her music to me just as the Dresden Dolls did. Brian was great. I've also seen Amanda play with other people who were great (such as Jason Webley). She's gonna play with Brian again on and off I'm sure, and she will continue to play with other people, including others from the general community of artists that she swirls in, and to me it still just feels like Amanda Palmer. With possibly a return to the artistic variety she used to instigate and facilitate before "The Dresden Dolls" became so time-consuming. I've already seen signs of that in the past year.
