From those descriptions Ripple sounds more interesting than Trader, in my opinion. I could also see Trader ending up very similar to Miriam's Injured Manliness Guy, so you two might want to coordinate concepts so we don't end up with both of them. (You presumably got her email.) If you're thinking in terms of party balance (not that we ever particularly care about that) I've got a rogue-paladin, and no one else is sure what they're doing yet.

Another thought that occurs to me is that if whoever you end up with has some mechanical weirdness (eg Ripple's spell-echoes) you get to figure out how to make that work in-game.
