... So, uh. I went down into the caves again, to practice with the stalactites and the stalagmites, and... kind of got lost.

Stalactites grow on the ceilings of caves and stalagmites grow on the floor. They're mineral deposits, water in the caves drips from the ceiling and over hundreds or thousands of years they form rocks. Stalactites sort of look like huge rock icicles and stalagmites go the other way.
