There are events that are so big they can’t be contained in the present moment. They have to be seen both spilling into the past and into the future as well. Memory engulfs and the terror at what’s to come; infused by a sense of what you’ve learned and what’s happened; overwhelms the future. Making you understand and yet not understand at all but doomed never to forget.

World of reality…particularly unrealized.

Nightmares…terror of the dark.

Nine years old - complete break.

Guttered corpse: symbol of hideous pride. Appalling image causes break with innocence.

Reality faced and fled from in fear. Life of fantasy and religion and what might be damaged…making inability to belong to reality a reality.

Discovery of inward inadequacy…lesson taught and learned…unable to forget.

Worthless…vine soiled and tainted and corrupt…firm in the belief at being unworthy of happiness and peace.

Resentment against father; hatred and fear of father.

Trapped in chains…unbreakable…unrelenting. A life sentence of terror and fear...not of his own making but unable to break.

For the rest of his life, trapped between the shadowy terrors of the outer world and a disturbing sense of inner unreality, he would never escape the wounded conviction - instilled in him in childhood - that he had been born with something dead inside him.
