closed: a casual valentine's

Timekeeping had hardly ever been one of George's most prominent skills. From showing up late to class to missing pre-planned engagements of all kinds to being shocked to find specific holidays, birthdays, and other notable days creeping up on him at the last minute, he mostly gaged what day it was based on how busy the shop was, tracked the passing ( Read more... )

Cecilia had taken to having off days on Fridays, something Hestia had pushed her toward. It was one day guaranteed off a week and one she was only just beginning to look forward to. But the fact that it was Valentine's Day eluded her, Cecilia still adjusting from the vacation she and George shared in Paris. They'd spent the week mostly tangled up in the sheets, neither of them paying much to attention to the time or the date or even what was going on outside of their window. With all the two of them had been through, the lazy days in Daphne's flat in Paris was exactly what Cecilia needed ( ... )

As always, George had to take a second to compose himself at the sight of her (Merlin he did love that robe and how it left just the right amount up to the imagination) before clicking back into properly functioning mode.

"Oh good, so I'm not the only jerk that completely spaced," he laughed, holding up the flowers and peaking out at her from behind them. "Happy Valentine's Day?"

Her brow furrowed as she took in the sight of the flowers, the colors so bright and beautiful they caught her off guard. Happy Valentine's Day. Bloody hell. It was the fourteenth, wasn't it? She shook her head, his laughter causing her own to catch in her throat. She looked up at George, that little grin tugging at his lips widening the one already on her face as she stepped back, her hand reaching to tug at his to pull him inside.

"You're fantastic-" she said, pushing herself up on her toes to kiss him lightly. "Honestly- I barely know what day it is- I can't believe I forgot-"

Not that she ever had a reason to remember in the past.

George might have been her very first Valentine.

"These are beautiful," she told him.

George easily let himself be pulled inside, kicking the door shut behind him as he stepped up to her, instinctively reaching a hand around her waist, fingers brushing over the thin smooth fabric of her robe.

"I'm just thankful the Prophet went with the full heart-themed layout again this year or it would've blown past me, too," he grinned against the light press of her lips.

"So," he half-shrugged, giving the bouquet in his hands a quick shake and quirking an eyebrow slightly, "I don't exactly have anything wildly romantic planned, but, I figured, we've sort of mastered the comfortable-day-in thing, yeah?"

"That sounds wildly romantic to me," she told him.

She reached for the flowers in his hand, breathing them in briefly before she moved from his grasp, bringing the bouquet into the kitchen.

"Besides, how could I possibly say no to curling up with you?" she called to him as she grabbed a vase.

It really did sound the perfect way to celebrate. Especially when she recalled the firewhiskey he'd carried along with him. The idea of curling up on the couch, nuzzled against his chest with some wonky comedy movie on the telly was already making her feel a little giddy.

"I guess I should go and change-" she said, then, once the bouquet was properly arranged.
