I'm having a hard time getting to sleep because I am eager to know how the presidental election in America turns out. In some regards this is good because I've been writing -- on the other hand it's bad because I have to be awake in seven hours for work. I'm sure I will finish this entry and turn in to bed -- the election results won't change

Whenever I get on a writing kick I just write no matter how dumb or awful it sounds. Because I go back through it later and realize it doesn't sound as bad as I first thought.

Glad to hear you're writing again though, and I can't wait to read it!
As for CfaS, I wouldn't worry too much about canon. Hell, even the movie Backbeat is so un-canonical in the way it mixes up events that it distracted from the story for me (but I'm a lousy nitpicker). So if they can do that, why not you? Besides, I don't know of anybody who really expects total, absolute fidelity to canon in a freaking slash story, for heaven's sake.

I don't know if this new story will be any good but it feels nice to be writing anything at all. And, odd that you should mentioned Backbeat -- I rewatched it last night. It really does have a lot of factual errors, the least of all bein the glaring inconsistanies of how they were deported out of Hamburg and how/when Stuart died. But at the same time they were confinded to 90 or so minutes in which to tell a story that spands several months so in such a case it makes sense that they'd change some details (although why they cast the man as Klaus that they did is beyond me!). Anyway, as a writer who somewhat prides himself on canonical accuracy I'd like to be more correct. I know it's a fanfiction and a slash story at that and that most readers wouldn't have a clue or care but it does bother me. I don't think I'll rewrite it soon but I think I will rewrite it, at least in part.
Until then I'll just try to write new things more accurately.

I can't say I was surprised, just disappointed. I think I told you before that I thought this would happen. Sigh. It's gonna be a long four years.
I do understand the wanting to be accurate, at least as much as humanly possible, even if it is a slash story. If I get even one little thing wrong and find out about it later, it absolutely gnaws at me. So then I have to go and fix it, somehow, although occasionally the facts end up destroying the entire plot I had so carefully constructed. *groan*
How did you actually like Backbeat, though? Astrid had a lot of input into the movie, from what I've read (and from what the director mentioned in the commentary on the DVD). Klaus, George, and Pete were almost non-entities (the part with George's mother and the scones was cringe-inducing!), and Paul came off pretty poorly. Maybe this is accurate and justified, but the character doesn't have any depth. He rags on John and Stu the whole film, until toward the end he ( ... )
