I finished the new Harry Potter book last night. It was enjoyable although it didn't inspire me to want to write fiction of any sort.
Simply not enough Fred, George or Percy for me. I cannot say that Harry/Ginny surprised me although I find it rather dissappointing. I personally feel Ginny is better than him. Snape being the prince is no surprise to me although I feel that the title of the book was rather misleading. It probably should have been called Harry Potter and the Horcruxes and not the Half Blood Prince because, although Snape did have an important role in the end of the book, he was really not that important and there was no major point where he and Harry "faced off." I suppose book seven will be "Harry and the Horcruxes" though. Anyway.
I also saw War of the Worlds recently. It was a totally fluke that I saw it as I've not seen very many new movies at all. However, I'm glad I did see it and I might watch it again. It was good if solely for the reason that the beginning is very similar to the events that happen in my Eve of Destruction story. That is --
the lightning occuring and all mechanical devices of any sort dying. It is accurate even down to the fact that, once the devices are fixed, they will work again. It's not very much but it is one of the first things in a very long time that actually made me think about my story and almost made me want to work on it. Granted I don't plan to have the alien invasions or anything in the end but the opening part was extremely, disturbingly similar. Especially the part when the plane crashed . . .
Anyway. My lease is up in August at which time I plan to move back to Camberley. I've actually already started packing -- I'm rather eager to get out of here. I don't relish the thought of living with my parents again but it will hopefully just be for a few weeks until I find a new flat and job.
This is getting longer than I anticipated. I've got to sleep.
