Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down

Okay, this is a new LJ thing I'm going to start doing.  It's more concise than simply blathering on about random stuff.  It's called ThumbsUp/Thumbs Down.  I'll present two items, one which recieves my personal stamp of approval and one which does not.  usually there will be some sort of connection between the two items.  It's like "Good Idea/Bad ( Read more... )

I find that it is very difficult to make books like Narnia into movies, but I think it still rocked. I agree with doing Caspian and the LAst Battle, but also throw in Dawn Treader before the Silver Chair. That way, if they keep the same young actors, they'll age at relatively the right pace. lol. Magician's Nephew and Horse and His Boy should be last, because they sort of stand apart from the other five, particularly the Horse.

For Harry Potter, I actually liked the fourth movie, but I can still agree that no movies - Narnia, harry Potter, even LOTR - will ever do full justice to the books (although I think LOTR comes closest of all of them). There's just too much to put in...I'm kinda nervous about the 5th movie...it's gonna have to be three hours if wants a chance at getting it all in.

Maybe it would be better if they tried adapting these books into a made-for TV miniseries, like Band of Brothers?

You got the LOTR chessboard. I HATE you! *shakes fist*

Concerning Narnia... diplomatizer January 1 2006, 00:50:19 UTC
I think it's a dead certainty that they'll make movies out of the rest of the series, given the warm reception from critics AND audiences to this one.

The Magician's Nephew was originally written as a prequel anyway, so I don't think they'll have any continuity issues. You may be right about A Horse and his Boy, though--if they leave one out, that'll be the one. I think at this point the only uncertainty is whether or not they'll make movies in the order C.S. Lewis wrote them in.

Yeah, now that I think of it, I was confusing that with Spy vs. Spy from Mad TV. I'm sure you can see the similarities... and you should all be used to me messing up my pop culture references by now. ;-)

Hello,

my name is Jacob and I saw something about Erlkonig by Schubert in one of your earlier posts about lyrics. I was wondering whether or not you have the lyrics on hand? I would love to see them if you could give them to me.

Thank you so much,

Jacob

Hey Jacob,

Here's a link to the Lied and Art Song Text Page. It's a really useful site to find librettos and decent translations of most of the standard works.

Enjoy.
