Things will get better.... anonymous August 23 2004, 21:50:20 UTC
Linds...I am very proud of you for seeking some outside help. I know that we've discussed this very situation at length over the years and reaching out for help is never an easy thing to do. I can tell you that things will get better, but it will take time. Psychologists are professionally trained to help you cope with things that happend in the past and what you are feeling in the present.
The mind is a very powerful thing (much more powerful than we will ever understand/comprehend) and it takes a lot of hard work and determination to make significant changes in the way we think and respond to situations.
Your synopsis of his assessment of the situation makes perfect sense, however that doesn't make it any easier for you to deal with.
Call me soon and let me know how you're doing. We haven't talked as much since before I left for SF and I would love to hear more!
Have a great rest of the day and I will talk with you soon.
Love,
Kristen
